LEAD, a division of the JLC, has successfully developed and delivered a bespoke leadership programme for people in their 30’s. Step Up To LEAD is a four session programme providing participants with an insight into communal infrastructure and challenges, education and representation. The final session allowed the 12 participants to discuss the challenge of a family/work/community life balance with JLC Women’s Commission Chair and Board of Deputies Senior Vice-President, Laura Marks and her husband Dan Patterson. Each of the participants have also been offered one-to-one sessions with a member of the LEAD team to help them find a role in the community. One participant described how Step Up To LEAD had given her the opportunity to find a way back into the community after active engagement as a student. LEAD will now explore running Step Up To LEAD as a programme for different groups, including youth movement and university graduates, retirees and people moving to London from abroad.
