On 20th March Lead, a division of the JLC, launched its newest initiative with 50 people attending from across the community. Leading In has been created in response to the desire and need for more leadership skills training, expressed by alumni of Lead’s programmes as well as employers within the community.
Nicky Goldman, Lead’ s Executive Director explains:
We believe that Jewish communal leaders need both a deep understanding and knowledge of the UK Jewish Community as well as a core range of leadership skills. Whilst Lead’s existing programmes and the new Senior Leaders’ Programme will continue to address mainly the first issue, Leading In will primarily respond to the desire for further leadership skills training.
Leading In consists of regular bi-monthly evening sessions, open to all who are in a leadership position in the community, both lay and professional. Each session will include a leadership skills based session (a choice of three with the option to participate in a fundraising series over several sessions), an opportunity to network and a masterclass with an inspirational, visionary leader.
The first session included training workshops on fundraising, Jewish leadership ethics and strategic planning, and a masterclass from JLC Board of Trustees Chair Mick Davis on five leadership lessons. Speaking after the event, Leonie Lewis, Director of JVN said:
Leading In was an excellent and inspiring event. The input from the speakers and trainers was great and very focused.
Daniel Sacker, another attendee, said:
Kol hakavod! LEAD and especially professional leadership development is something that has been missing for too long from our community. Glad to see it is back on the agenda!
Mick Davis’ presentation on top 5 Jewish Community Leadership skills was particularly well received. Alan Shapiro, Resource said:
Mick Davis’s session was tremendous – it was a real tour de force with an enormous amount for the Jewish community to learn.
Max Curtis, an Adam Science Alum who works for one of the largest supermarket chains said:
Lead have found a gap in the market. Bite size events on leadership, with leaders and experts in the field. Highly engaging and as good as I’ve found in the corporate world. I’m really looking forward to the next session.
The next two sessions are on 30th May and 9th July – featuring workshops on Social Networking, Fundraising, Motivation with keynote lectures from Debbie Klein and Nigel Risner. For more information and to book your place, please email email@example.com.
