For the past two and a half years we have been working intensively to deliver one of the key recommendations of the JLC Commission on Schools. The reorganisation of the Jewish schools in North East London was designated as both urgent and important in Professor Wagner’s report. We convened a group of all key local stakeholders, under the chairmanship of PaJeS Chair Jonathan Goldstein, to work on two tracks – greater collaboration between all three of the Redbridge schools and a major capital redevelopment project that would see the relocation of Ilford Jewish Primary School onto the current King Solomon High School site, creating a new campus that will act as key hub of local community life. This will also lead to greater efficiencies and cost savings for the schools. JLC and its members led a multi-million pound fundraising effort and we are pleased to report that building work is on schedule, meaning that the doors to the brand new IJPS school will open for the start of the new school year in September. Jonathan Goldstein said, “Progress continues apace at Redbridge with the construction of IJPS on the KSHS campus which we look forward to opening in September. We have received general support from the community and are making good progress in achieving our fundraising goals. It is important for the community to understand that it needs to invest in its educational facilities to ensure the best education for our children.”
