On Wednesday February 12th, Lead launched the Adam Science 2014 programme and welcomed the 22nd cohort of future young lay leaders. The year long programme, hosted at different communal venues over the year, aims to equip the group with the knowledge, understanding and experience of the British Jewish community to become its future lay leaders. As well as hearing from the UK’s leading communal professionals and lay leaders, the group will also travel to Boston for its international seminar to learn from leaders of another vibrant diaspora community. Participants also benefit from a unique mentoring programme and are matched with leading figures in the community who help them identify and access leadership roles within the community.
This year’s group comprises of 11 great candidates, from a variety of different denominational backgrounds and regions, with each one excited to bring their insights and stories to the Adam Science table. At the launch, the group heard from Avi Goldberg, Ashley Summerfield and Andrew Brecher, the original trustees of the Adam Science Foundation, who together with Anna Josse, Steven Lewis, Mark Krais and Adam’s family, rallied to set up the leadership programme in Adam’s name after he tragically passed away at the young age of 27, and who have been involved in the programme since its inception.
