Since July 2013, PaJeS has been working in partnership with the Centre of Educational Technology (CET/Matach) in Israel to create an exciting new Ivrit curriculum for 11 to 14 year olds.
Over 30 teachers from 10 secondary schools were introduced to the Wohl Hebrew Programme with a two-day training programme in July, and gave some excellent feedback:
I think this is an amazing programme (which was long overdue, but it’s wonderful it’s here). Like Ivritbeclick, it is excellent, based on very strong pedagogical principles, and I can’t wait to see more of it.
As the school year begins, teachers across the country are now using the Wohl Hebrew Programme with their Year 7 students. Matach have set up personal logins for all teachers and PaJeS have delivered over 1300 copies of the first of the programme’s textbooks to schools. Teachers are participating in online training in the form of webinars run by Matach, and have also been offered dates during the Autumn Term for a one-to-one school visit by Samantha Benson, our Ivrit Curriculum and Training Lead.
The Wohl Hebrew programme is being delivered through printed and digital textbooks, multimedia files including audio files, videos and interactive activities and assessments, editable worksheets and teacher support materials. The course is available online within a Managed Learning Environment allowing teachers to chart each student’s progress.
