In 2015, the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Bergen Belsen by British forces falls on Erev Yom HaShoah.
To mark this unique and poignant anniversary, a special large scale National UK Yom HaShoah Commemoration will be held at Barnet Copthall Stadium in London on Sunday April 19th 2pm. This date coincides with the English date of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It is intended to be the largest gathering of UK Jewry in recent history to remember the Holocaust. Over 120 communal organisations have committed to support the Commemoration name, with the title ‘Remember Together - We Are One’ .
This 70th anniversary offers one of the last opportunities for survivors and the UK Jewish community to come together and pledge to keep the memory alive, continue the legacy of the survivors and as a community, stand proudly to defiantly say: ‘Never Again!'”
On Yom Hashoah, together we mourn the loss of six million men, women and children and, as a united community we will pay tribute and say thank you to the Survivors and Refugees for the remarkable contributions they have made to the Jewish community and wider UK society.
This event will not happen again – so please come out in force to remember the murdered, honour the survivors & refugees – and stand united as we defiantly send out the message, Never Again.
