Bill Benjamin has been the Chairman of the United Jewish Israel Appeal (UJIA) since the beginning of 2013. Bill is also on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC). From 2008-2012, he served as Co-Chairman of the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues. He has also served as a member of the JLC’s Commission on Jewish Schools and its subsequent implementation group and as a trustee of JCoSS.
Professionally, Bill is the Global Head of Real Estate for Ares Management, a leading asset management firm. A native of the United States, Bill moved to London in 2001 to open the office for his firm and he overseas its European and Asian activities. Prior to joining Ares, Bill was a partner at Apollo Real Estate Advisors and started his career in the real estate finance group of Bankers Trust Company in New York.
Bill graduated from Harvard College and has a masters degree in business from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has three children.
