Jewish Leadership Council, Jewish Care, Nightingale and Hammerson and Norwood Meet With Jon Rouse, Director General for Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships at the Department of Health

On Tuesday 25 November, the Jewish Leadership Council convened a meeting with Jewish Care, Nightingale and Hammerson, and Norwood – its three biggest social care members - and Jon Rouse, Director General for Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships at the Department of Health.

The meeting was convened to share and discuss best practice with respect to dementia, an area in which our social care members provide exemplary services. It is part of the follow up from the Jewish community’s meeting with the Prime Minister in 2014.

Prime Minister David Cameron launched the dementia challenge in March 2012 in order to tackle dementia, one of the most pressing issues we face as the UK population ages.

Simon Johnson, Chief Executive of the Jewish Leadership Council said:

We are delighted that our social care members have been able to be part of the Government’s discussion about best practice in dementia and the challenges faced. We were pleased to be able to share the exemplary work being done by our members in this field.

Jon Rouse said:

I found this meeting organised by the Jewish Leadership Council very helpful. All three care providers shared insights and experience relevant to improving our policies on dementia care.
