Jewish Teachers Present at NUT Conference

For the first time in many years, Jewish teachers had a formal presence at the National Union of Teachers Conference over the Easter weekend. Despite the strictures of Shabbat and Pesach, a stall run by the Jewish Teachers Association attracted many visitors who heard about the challenges faced by Jewish teachers in mainstream schools.

The JTA, supported by the JLC and Board of Deputies, is looking to attract more members to help the group assist teachers facing work related discrimination and verbal attacks on Jews and Israel in schools. As well as leaflets prepared for the Conference, visitors to the stall took away copies of the Jewish Way of Life DVD, a teaching resource that accompanies the highly successful Jewish Way of Life Exhibition for schools.
