Nightingale is a leading provider of care for older members of the Jewish community, situated in Clapham South West London. It is an independent organisation which is a registered charity. It currently cares for some 200 older people whose average age is almost 90. The charity has been in existence since 1840 and has been on its current site for over 100 years.
Nightingale provides residential care, dementia, nursing and respite care. It offers a “home for life” for its residents and places huge emphasis on stimulation and activities for its residents. There are a wide range of activities including reminiscence, musical recitals, current affairs discussion group, outings and much more. There is a fully staffed Activities Centre where residents are able to enjoy pottery, IT training, cooking, and a wide range of other crafts.
It has an exceptional range of facilities on its site including an in house medical centre, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments, landscaped gardens, hairdressing salon, shop, garden café, activities centre, synagogue, reminiscence rooms and much much more.
A significant number of residents at Nightingale live with dementia at some level. Residents come to the Home from all over the London area. Nightingale covers a site of some 5.5 acres which includes a specialist dementia garden with many reminiscence features. The Home is recognised within the care sector as being a leading and innovative provider of care to older people.
Nightingale has been classified by its regulator as an “Excellent” 3-star home – the highest classification available.
