As part of one of the recommendations of the JLC’s Commission on Women in Jewish Leadership, this year’s Adam Science group explored diversity and gender equality together with issues of inclusivity in the community at their latest session. Laura Marks, Chair of the Commission spoke to the group about the statistics behind the interventions recommended – nationally 46-60% of senior management third sector positions are held by women; in the Jewish community this is only 35%. The group were encouraged to get involved in women’s networks, to campaign on gender issues and to encourage communal organisations they’re involved in to look at their systems e.g. recruitment, development opportunities and family friendly policies, through a gender equal lens.
