Douglas has been Chairman of Jami since June 2013. He also holds a number of additional Lay Leadership positions within the UK Jewish Community, including: Trustee, Jewish Care; Trustee, London Jewish Forum; Member, Political Oversight Group, JLC. In 2013 he Chaired the “Closer To Israel 65” celebrations.
Prior to moving into the commercial sector, Doug spent over 20 years in a variety of senior professional leadership roles within the UK Jewish community, including:
2005-2012, Chief Executive, UJIA; 2003-2005, Founding Director, the JLC; 2000-2004, Executive Director, CST; 1992-2000, Executive Director, the Maimonides Foundation.
Doug was an active member of Habonim Dror Youth Movement and has a Masters degree in Middle East Area Studies from the London University School of Oriental and African Studies and a degree in Modern Arabic Studies from the University of Leeds. He spent a year at Ain Shams University in Cairo and speaks Hebrew, Arabic and French.
Doug joined Investec Specialist Bank in November 2012 where he is now Group Development Director.
He is married to Tali, and has three children, Noa, Ella and Gil.
