On the 10th April, this year’s Adam Science group were privileged to hear from the CEOs of the JLC, Jewish Care, Norwood, CST and UJIA. In true ‘Question Time’ style, the panel answered questions from the group on a variety of issues including how the community engages with MPs; the challenges of fundraising, and the crucial relationship between the professional and lay leadership.
The panel shared highlights of their organisations’ successes with the group such as new models of working with smaller organisations, solid succession planning, committed volunteer forces, and fantastic facilities to name but a few. The group also heard the panel talk frankly about some of the major issues facing the community such as the aging profile of the community, cuts in public funding matched with a decrease in legacy giving, the proliferation of charitable organisations and the challenge of engaging more young adults. The group came away with a much greater insight of some of the challenges that they as future lay leaders will need to grapple with and a broader appreciation of all we do well.
