PaJeS, a division of the JLC, recently facilitated a discussion with key senior staff and governors from King Solomon High School regarding the unique challenge they face in constructing a Religious Studies curriculum for a Jewish school with a multicultural population.
What emerged was a bold new model that builds on key Jewish values to create an inclusive approach to all students’ moral, spiritual and personal development, whilst maintaining an intense Jewish Studies programme within the school. Community involvement is central to this vision, building on the school’s already hugely successful Kehilla department. PaJeS plans to continue working with the school to look in detail at the curriculum and resource implications of these ideas. We are grateful to King Solomon’s Headteacher and staff for inviting us to help in this cutting edge work.
