Construction work has begun on the development of the new Ilford Jewish Primary School expected for delivery in Summer 2013 together with a new arts and drama block for King Solomon High School.
Following the publication of the Wagner report into the future of Jewish education in the UK, the restructuring of the educational provision in the area was regarded as a priority. For three years the Redbridge Jewish Education Renewal Project chaired by Jonathan Goldstein has worked tirelessly to fulfil that strategic goal.
It is now on course to achieve that within the projected time scale, having sold the existing Ilford Jewish Primary School to Redbridge Council and begun the process of relocation.
It is currently estimated that the redevelopment of the site will cost £10.75million. The sale of the existing Ilford Jewish Primary School was sold for approximately £8million and £1.5million has been pledged by supporters leaving the project team to secure the shortfall of £1.25million prior to the delivery of the project.
