Shirley Fenster

Shirley Fenster Co-Chair of Masorti Judaism since 2015, on the Board of Masorti Europe and UK representative on Merkaz, the political arm of Masorti Olami (World Masorti).

Now a member of Kol Nefesh Masorti, Shirley was a founder member of Edgware Masorti Synagogue; on synagogue Council for many years, chaired numerous Israel committees. She is a longtime Limmud attendee and presenter for over 25 years. She volunteers and lectures for SpaceIL, the Israeli mission to the moon.

Shirley was on the Board of the French International School of Philadelphia, and a school governor in the UK.

Shirley followed two of her children onto the JLC, Ilana and Joel. All three of her children are heavily involved in many Jewish charities, including Limmud and Noam, the Masorti youth movement, and Leon is on the Board of Kehilat Beijing and chaired Limmud China.

She is passionate about spreading the message of Masorti Judaism, the fastest growing movement in the UK; she believes that many more in Anglo-Jewry could find their home in Masorti.

In her professional life as a statistician and epidemiologist, Shirley has held a long international career in statistics, clinical research and quality management in Pharmaceuticals, living and working in the USA, Israel and France. She studied in Oxford, Manchester and UCL; passionate about language and fluent in four languages.
