The Community’s Biggest Sporting Event Of The Year Gets Even BIGGER!

This year’s Maccabi GB Community Fun Run – the biggest sporting fundraiser in the communal calendar – is getting bigger! The event now includes five ‘races’ – including a brand new 5km Walk and ‘Tri-Run Challenge’ – a record-breaking 48 charitable organisations taking part and, for the first time, a brand new Health & Wellbeing Hub for participants and spectators alike.

The event, on Sunday 14th June 2015, will be held at Allianz Park Sports Stadium for the second consecutive year, following the overwhelming success in 2014. As well as the traditional 10km, 5km and 1km distances, participants can raise funds for their selected charity or charities by taking part in a 5km Walk and the ‘Tri-Run’, for those who want to challenge themselves and run all three distances. The Health & Wellbeing Hub will house stands, taster sessions and specialised talks by health professionals all aimed at helping Jewish people maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Hub accompanies the already popular Charity Fair, Food Court and Family Fun Zone all of which will keep every member of the family entertained whether they are taking part or are spectating.

Emma Nagli, Maccabi GB’s Events Coordinator who manages the event, said:

The Jewish Community are in for a real treat this year! The best thing about the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run is that there are so many different ways to raise funds for lots of Jewish causes – you can walk the 1km with children and grandparents, you can see how fast you can run the 10km or you can complete a combination of the distances.

She added:

We are really excited about the addition of the Health & Wellbeing Hub. The day is about fundraising, of course, but also about getting active and a little healthier. The Family Fun Zone returns for another year of engaging and enjoyable activities to keep the whole family entertained whilst they or their loved ones aren’t running; and, of course the Charity Fair will house the 48 charities so participants can learn all about the fantastic causes they are running for!

Martin Berliner, Maccabi GB’s CEO added:

The Maccabi GB Community Fun Run is unique in that it brings together participants from far-and-wide across the Community. There is a real sense of unity and purpose and the atmosphere of fun and achievement is palpable.

With the Community’s charitable organisations always looking for new ways to raise much-needed donations, the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run offers them the opportunity to raise maximum funds through a unique event for the Community which reaches out to everyone.
