The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson will lead the festivities at Chanukah in the Square, the annual celebration of Chanukah in Trafalgar Square.
The event is being organised by the Jewish Leadership Council, the London Jewish Forum and Chabad-Lubavitch UK, supported by the Mayor of London.
The public celebration of the festival of lights will take place on Monday the 10th of December, the 3rd night of the Jewish Festival of Chanukah, with live music and entertainment from 5pm onwards.
Over 6,000 people are expected to gather in Trafalgar Square to mark the occasion, the largest ever gathering for Chanukah in London's history. Members of Parliament, the London Assembly and other civic leaders will join Jewish communal dignitaries on the Square.
Live music will be provided by band Neshama, the Shabbaton Choir, the children of the Wolfson Hillel School Choir and the JLGB Band.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson will speak from the events main-stage on the steps of Trafalgar Square's North Terrace at approximately 6pm, with the official proceedings of the event concluding at 6:45pm. Live music will then continue until 8pm.
This is a major public event, open to Londoners from all faiths and cultures, a key event in London's annual winter festivities.
The Mayor of London will hand out Chanukah 'gelt' (chocolate gold-coins) to children - a festival tradition, whilst 'Dreidelman' will be making his first appearance in the UK.
Europe's largest Menorah, standing at 18ft tall will be lit, whilst the traditional Chanukah food, doughnuts, will be available for the gathered crowds.
