The We Believe in Israel conference on 22nd March 2015 saw 1500 pro-Israel supporters gathered together in London for the largest conference of its kind in the UK.
During the course of the day, there were over 70 breakout sessions for participants to choose from, which ranged from topics on the challenges to Israel in the UK, knowledge of Israel, Europe, the wider Middle East, and practical campaign skills.
The We Believe in Israel conference was addressed by Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP (Government Chief Whip), Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, former Israeli Minister of the Interior, Gideon Sa’ar, and Michael Dugher MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Transport), along with many other high profile speakers who expressed their support for Israel.
Participants at the conference left with tools and knowledge that will serve as the basis for ongoing activism, and a stronger than ever commitment to ensuring the fairness of debate around Israel.
The conference brought together a broad coalition of 58 pro-Israel organisations, covering the whole range of Zionist opinion.
Luke Akehurst, Director of We Believe in Israel, said:
I’m incredibly proud of the work that the activists in our network do, and thank them for their commitment to Israel and for their input into the conversations and workshops we had today.
Edward Misrahi, Chairman, BICOM, said:
The conference showed once again that this community is ready and able to become more active once it is provided with the tools and training. The energy and passion of the delegates gave us a lot of confidence in our ability to ensure that the case for Israel is heard loud and clear across the country.
Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP, said:
Israel makes an incredible contribution to the community of Nations and its delegitimisation by the BDS movement must always be confronted by right thinking people. It is for this reason that I am proud to be part of this year’s We Believe Conference.
Michael Dugher MP, said:
It is shared values that bind the United Kingdom and the State of Israel together in friendship. And the enemies, who stand against Israel, are our enemies too. And I am proud to call myself a Zionist.
Maggie Suissa, Campaigns director, UJS said:
It was great that the conference was such a welcoming place for students, and we were proud to be part of the day.
