Steven has been working to support the Jewish Community for most of his adult life. Originally motivated to do so by his late friend, Adam Science, who encouraged him to get involved with the Jewish Blind Society (JBS) through attending a community meeting, after which he left as Chairman of the Pentland Business Luncheon!

Steven’s affiliation to Jewish Care strengthened through the 1990’s when he was asked to Chair Young Jewish Care and take his place on the Board of Trustees. Shortly before this, Jewish Care was created from a merger between JBS and the Jewish Welfare Board. As Chair, Steven established and shaped a successful programme of events and initiatives for young Jewish people - he continues to be passionate about engaging young people with the work of Jewish Care and is dedicated to introducing the organisation to many generous donors. He is one of the industry’s most successful fundraisers, who credits himself with a very natural empathy for people and a strong ability to cultivate and nurture relationships. This strength has been beneficial in his day job - Steven is Senior Partner at Lewis & Partners -a highly regarded property advisory agency.

He chaired the Patrons’ Committee for many years and is a member of Jewish Care’s Topland Business Lunch Committee. In 2011, he took on the role of Chairman of Jewish Care for a period of nine years where he oversaw the running of the whole organisation,  in consultation with his skilled Board, whilst simultaneously continuing with his fundraising efforts with major supporters including Patrons and beyond. Steven believes wholeheartedly that those who can afford to support those less fortunate than themselves in the Community must be strongly encouraged to do so. For the last few years, he has been President of Jewish Care where he continues to be at the very heart of the organisation.
