Grounded and Growing: DSLP Explores Leadership Presence and Personal Impact

On Sunday July 6th, the participants in the Dangoor Senior Leadership Programme for lay and professional communal leaders gathered at Chai Cancer Care, in North West London for a workshop co-led by DSLP directors Michelle Janes and Larry Shulman. This was the first of three in-person day-long Leadership Gatherings that will take place across the programme and it brought the cohort back together in person from across the UK for the first time since their May residential at Windsor Leadership.

Aside from reconnecting and catching up, the focus of the day was on personal authority, presence and impact as leaders and understanding the implications for themselves and their teams of the data map gleaned from of their Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) analyses.

DSLP participant Olivia Davidson, Co-Chair of Ohel Moed, said about the day, “The power of a new framework and a room full of open-minded people in open-hearted conversation never ceases to amaze me. I left the day exhausted and invigorated (and, not or) with new perspectives about myself as a person and a leader.”

Candice Mendes da Costa, Director of Major Events at Maccabi GB, said, “The day was incredibly insightful. Each session offered practical tools and self-awareness techniques that will help me better understand how I show up in different settings and how to influence others more effectively. It was a valuable opportunity for reflection and growth, both personally and professionally.”

Marc Levy, CEO of the Jewish Representative Council of Manchester, reflected that, “Once again, the DSLP leadership course has dissected what it takes to be an effective leader whilst providing practical and nuanced examples as to how we can improve our performance.”

Over the summer, the Dangoor cohort will be meeting with their programme coaches, and thinking through their personal development plans ahead of the next gathering in September when they will also have the opportunity to connect to DSLP alumni.
